A cookie is a piece of information that is sent by a website to your web browser. Your web browser remembers this information and sends it back to the website every time that you visit a new page on the website.
Our website stores a temporary ID in a cookie that is sent to your web browser so that it can remember anything that you have added to your shopping basket. Without this cookie the website has no way of matching the contents of a shopping basket to your web browser.
On our website this system works in a similar way to taking a temporary ticket with a number on it at the deli or fish counter in a supermarket. When your number is called you go up to the counter to get served. The person behind the counter knows nothing about you other than what the number is on your ticket and what you buy from the counter. In our case, the cookie contains this temporary number and every time that you come to this page your web browser shows our website your ticket, the website then matches this up to a shopping basket and shows you what is in it.
If you would like more information, the following page on the Wikipedia encyclopaedia explains cookies in much more detail, including many misconceptions regarding cookies.

This all depends on what web browser you use and which version of that web browser you have. To determine which web browser you have varies, but generally you can click on the "Help" menu at the top of your browser, then select "About..." from this list (e.g. "About Internet Explorer" or "About Mozilla Firefox").
Next, you need to enable your cookies. The best way achieve this is to read the following page on Google and to then follow the instuctions for your web browser.
